Method
- Bag in. Put the bag in an empty mug.
- Pour. Slowly pour 250mL of water, just off the boil, over the bag.
- Dunk. Dunk the bag up and down for 15 to 30 seconds to get the coffee moving.
- Steep. Leave it for 5 minutes. A saucer on top keeps the heat in.
- Last dunk. Give it a few more dunks, then lift the bag out and bin it.
Dial it in
- Too weak: steep longer, or use 200mL of water instead of 250mL.
- Want milk? Brew it black first, then add milk once the bag is out. Milk cools the water and slows the brew.
- In a rush: 30 seconds of dunking gets you a drinkable cup. Five minutes gets you the full hit.
- One bag, one cup: a second go is thin and bitter, because there's nothing left in it.
Dunk Bag or Rip 'n Drip?
A Dunk Bag steeps in the mug like a tea bag. A Rip 'n Drip hangs over the mug and you pour the water through it. Both are real ground coffee with no machine. Here's how to use a Rip 'n Drip.

FAQ
How long should I steep a coffee bag?
About 5 minutes. Dunk it for the first 15 to 30 seconds, then leave it. Longer gives a stronger cup.
Is a dunk bag the same as instant coffee?
No. Instant is brewed coffee that's been dried into granules. A dunk bag is real ground coffee in a filter bag, brewed in your mug like tea.
How much water should I use?
250mL for a standard mug, or 200mL for a stronger cup.
Can I use a coffee bag with milk?
Yes. Brew it in hot water first, take the bag out, then add milk.
Where can I buy Killer Dunk Bags?
Online, and Black, Espresso and Colombian are also at Woolworths. Blackout Dunk Bags are online only.
Can I reuse a coffee bag?
No. The second cup is thin and bitter.
