How to Use Coffee Concentrate

In shortPour 30mL of Killer Concentrate into a cup, then add about 180mL of water or milk, hot or cold. That's 1 part concentrate to 6 parts, and it's ready in seconds. Use more concentrate for a stronger cup.

What you'll need

Method

  1. Concentrate in. Pour about 30mL into your cup.
  2. Pick your base. Hot water, cold water, milk, or a mix.
  3. Top it up. Add about 180mL. That's a 1:6 ratio, a good place to start.
  4. Stir and taste. More concentrate for more kick, more water or milk to soften it.

Five ways to drink it

  • Iced coffee: a glass of ice, 30mL of concentrate, 180mL of cold water.
  • Iced latte: a glass of ice, 30mL of concentrate, 180mL of cold milk.
  • Hot black: 30mL of concentrate topped up with hot water from the kettle.
  • Hot latte: 30mL of concentrate with 180mL of hot milk.
  • Short and strong: 30mL of concentrate with just 60mL of hot water.

Dial it in

  • Heat the water or milk, not the concentrate. Pour hot water or hot milk onto it. It's quicker, and easy to adjust as you go.
  • Too strong: add more water or milk. Too weak: add another splash of concentrate.
  • Sweeten it with sugar or a flavoured syrup, the same as any coffee.
  • Keep it cold once it's open. The fridge is its home.

How long does it keep?

Sealed, about 12 months. Once opened, up to 3 months in the fridge, or about 3 weeks out of it.

FAQ

How much concentrate do I use per cup?

About 30mL, topped up with 180mL of water or milk. Adjust it to taste.

What's the ratio for coffee concentrate?

1 part concentrate to 6 parts water or milk is a good start. Use less water for a stronger cup.

Can I drink coffee concentrate hot?

Yes. Add hot water or hot milk to the concentrate.

Do I have to keep it in the fridge?

Once it's open, yes, for the longest life: up to 3 months. A sealed bag keeps for about 12 months.

Is coffee concentrate the same as cold brew?

They're close relatives. Ours is brewed slowly over several days and comes ready to mix. Cold brew concentrate from a Toddy is used the same way once it's made.

What coffee is it made from?

Industrial Strength, our dark roast.

How much caffeine is in Killer Concentrate?

Our estimate is about 180mg per 100mL before it's mixed, so roughly 54mg in a 30mL serve. It's brewed from Industrial Strength, but we haven't had the concentrate itself lab tested yet, so treat that as an estimate.
